Restaurant Management and Event Planning Internship

We are looking to offer two 30 week internships starting in May 2014. The intern will experience two of our highest seasons on the North Fork, summer and harvest.

Job description:

  • Participate in 30 week rotational program with an emphasis in restaurant management and event planning
  • Receive training in operations, logistics, PMS, reservations, food and beverage, groups and events as well as marketing and community outreach.
  • Receive training in all front-of-house positions in the restaurant starting from busing/hosting and move up to running and bartending.
  • Receive wine training in the restaurant and also at the various local vineyards.
  • Set up in preparation of special events and catering.
  • Take part in wine pairings and weekly updates to our far- to-table menu.
  • Gain experience in guest services while taking part in the hotel front desk rotational program.
  • Perform any other reasonable requests made by guests or management.

About Us

The Greenporter Hotel is a small, privately owned Green-Certified hotel located in the heart of the North Fork’s wine country, in Greenport, Long Island. Located in the walking Village of Greenport near most restaurants, boutiques, village docks and water-front park, as well as galleries, and other historic attractions.

 

The hotel was first opened in October of 2001 and is designed in a 1950’s retro style with modern amenities. The property has 30 guestrooms which convey the feel of a comfortable beach house for the guest seeking a casual but stylish setting. All rooms feature a queen or king size bed, private bath, flat screen cable television, air conditioning, mini fridge, coffee machine, as well as daily maid service, complimentary continental breakfast and Wifi. An outdoor pool and hot tub is available during summer months, along with poolside food and beverage service.

 

The on-site restaurant, Cuvée Seafood & Grille, provides an atmosphere where customers can enjoy seasonal seafood, produce, duck, wines, and cocktails of the North Fork. We offer friendly service and a high quality Farm-to-Table experience in a casual setting.
