Pastry Chef

The Greenporter Hotel is seeking a pastry chef who is passionate about baking and serving creative and healthy pastry selections to guests of the hotel for all service including breakfast. This intern will have the opportunity to add signature desserts and creations to the lunch/tea time and dinner menus.

Continental breakfast buffet is offered to guests of the hotel on a complimentary basis. This continental breakfast is also available for purchase by outside guests. Breakfast is served in our restaurant seven days a week from July Fourth through Labor Day weekend. And is offered Saturday and Sunday only during the off-season.

Requirements

The pastry chef must be a good team player and have strong organizational skills in order to coordinate with Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef for purposes of creation, execution, inventory management and use of seasonal products and herbs from our own garden or local farms. And will earn creative control of items baked and served for all service.

This individual must be energetic, courteous, and organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Position will give preference to Culinary Students of Pastry or Garde manger interested in working in a farm to table restaurant and in a sustainable kitchen.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to baking a variety of products including alternative grain muffins or scones as well as desserts that are allergy-inclusive and low in calories, in addition to traditional pastries.

The pastry chef will also be responsible for mise en place of breakfast buffet and must also greet and seat guests for breakfast service, all the while keeping selections stocked at all times, managing inventory of breakfast items, and maintaining a picture perfect buffet.   The pastry chef/host will also break-down the breakfast buffet and stock for the following day.

7 am to 3 pm

Salary
Commensurate with experience
